We are very excited to launch the newest media type "gifs”.

What's new:

You can now upload your animated GIF creations to Pixabay. Upload GIFs with original characters, animated objects, or typography. We'd also love to see GIFs crafted for functionality, like loading screens and progress bars.

You can now download fun GIFs, too, and use them for all sorts of projects. Get GIF stickers about work, holidays, love, travel, food, art. Anything and everything, really!

Where do I upload Gifs?

You can upload gifs via the regular upload page.

What are the requirements?

When uploading gifs you should keep the following things in mind.Upload original animated GIFs that are:

• Either 2D or 3D
• File size of 25MB or less
• Up to 20 seconds in length
• Minimum resolution of 64px on both sides
• Transparent backgrounds are encouraged

If you're new to gifs, check out these handy tools to help you create your own. In the coming months we'll be sharing tutorials on how to use the following software to create GIFs.

• Blender: A free 3D computer graphics software that can create 2D lines in 3D space. These lines are vector based that can be moved on 3 axes, the x, y, and z. Both 2D and 3D elements may be mixed together to create a GIF animations, however, to render to GIF users will need to install a free plug-in called Bligify

• Krita: A free bitmap illustration software that allows users to create frame by frame animations. A drawing tablet is not required but is recommended to create intricate and professional looking animations. Krita also does doesn't require any additional plugins to render a GIF.

• Canva GIF creator - a free web tool that allows you to combine different animated elements and render into GIFs. A step by step guide can be found here. As with all uploads, remember to use your own elements in your gif design to meet Pixabay's license requirements.

@jessica pixabay: My question is: is the gif page malfunctioning? (many of my accepted gifs are not showing) is this a bug? I have 11 pending gifs a few days ago

@susan-lu4esm hello. There is currently a bug preventing us from approving GIFs but our team is working on getting it fixed. Your GIFs should be reviewed by the next 12 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience :(
